Quinby/Huger Creek

Located at Huger about halfway through the Francis Marion National Forest on Highway 41, these two creeks form some of the head waters of the Cooper River. Several plantations are located within paddling distance of the landing including the plantation of a 17th century knight who dreamed of bringing the silk trade to Charleston. You’ll find a mixture of marsh grass and scrub forest where wildlife is plentiful including the many long-legged wading birds, birds of prey, turtles and more. A short drive from Mt. Pleasant, Quenby Creek gives the paddler a window into the historic and acquatic splender of the river. Wadboo Creek 

Exciting history and striking views make for ideal kayaking along the Cooper River. Paddle the area where “The Swamp Fox,” General Francis Marion, beat back a british attack during the Revolutionary War.  Cool down on the Upper Wadboo Creek tour  where Cypress and Tupelo trees provide deep shade. See 30’ tall limestone bluffs,  Black-crowned Night Herons and wild hogs.
